Located on the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina, KHFD is a combination department featuring career firefighters, part-time firefighters, and volunteer firefighters.
About the Kitty Hawk Fire Department & Ocean Rescue
Beginning as a total volunteer department 30 years ago, KHFD has striven to grow to meet the demands presented by an ever-increasing population and tourism industry in Kitty Hawk. In partnership with Ocean Rescue we work to protect and inform the public on fire and ocean safety year round.
Burning Regulations & Permit Applications
Residents and visitors in the Town of Kitty Hawk are required to follow regulations when burning within the Town limits. Please contact the Town Fire Department at (252) 261-2666 with additional questions or apply for your burning permit online.
